August 11, 2011 – CSR: A Scandinavian Approach

Thursday, August 11, 2011;  6:30PM – 9:00PM at Gluek’s; 16th North Sixth Street, Minneapolis, MN 55403.  Presentation at 6:45 followed by conversation/socializing

Robert Strand is a Ph.D. Fellow at the Copenhagen Business School and Lecturer with the University of Minnesota Carlson School Of Management.  He has extensive experience researching the leadership teams of leading Scandinavian firms including IKEA, H&M, and Novo Nordisk and their strategy development as it relates to corporate social responsibility and sustainability.  Robert identified the “Scandinavian Cooperative Advantage” where Scandinavian firms are more likely to engage in cooperative partnerships to address complex environmental and social challenges.  Robert will share lessons of this cooperative approach and he will challenge the dominant paradigm that corporate strategy must begin with a focus on competition.

For those interested in alternative approaches to traditional business sustainability and responsibility, Robert will provide many cases of where going “outside the box” has proven beneficial to both the producer and consumer while achieving minimal environment impact.  Come find out where the CSR trends are heading!

Cost:  This event will be free, so bring your friends!
